Week #40

Hello everyone,

Elder Diaz and I are getting along great here in San Pedro Tapanatepec and having a lot of success. My companion talks and talks and talks and looking back on these 7 weeks together it has been such a blessing because my spanish has improved evenmore!

We have a baptism planned for this Saturday for Mario and we are teaching a frew really special investigators. One couple we just barely met saturday is actually married! what? yeah that´s right, people that live together and are legally married. When they said that I felt the spririt telling me... thats they are special and will be very accepting. They are a newly wed and have a baby on the way. We see them tonight and i hope it goes great!

Sorry I want to write more but we barely are given any time to write and these computers are slow. But just know that our new ward mission leader gabriel is doing awesome and that we are working hard. I know that because of my obedience and desire to save souls (mosiah 28:3) we are guided by the spirit. Long story short Saturday a lot of things happened that couldn´t have just been coincidence. That whole I felt like we were walking exactly where the lord had planned eventhough it didnt match our plans.

Love you all

Week #39

To whom this may concern:

Hey everyone! I´m doing great here in Tapana and just recently received information on our transfers! Ready....well ya okay I kinda gave it away by saying I´m doing great here in Tapana. Elder Diaz have the opportunity to work side-by-side another six weeks more. Pray for us to work harder this transfer and receive much revelation from the spririt.

That hasn´t changed but we have an excited change here in the ward regarding the missionary work.... remember the recent convert Gabriel? The one who was baptized in the end of february? Well, I am proud to announce to you all our new ward mission leader! He is already asking how our investigators are doing and when we are going to visit them and he was to paint the baptismal font (made of brick and outside) here! He is so excited and willing to help us! Because this branch is still growing in numbers we actually never had an official ward mission leader... and we have teh most faithful member in the ward.

We have two new investigators with baptismal dates, but didn´t make it to church.... pray for them to make it this week and to continue finding the truth through sincere prayer. Other than that we have Mario ready to be baptized this 10th of June. This week we press forward feeding his sheep and looking for those chosen and prepared to hear this glad message!

Take care and help out the missionaries in your area!

Love ya
Elder Leslie

Week #38

Hey everyone,

Basically this week we had two awesome conferences with the mission president and pumped to keep working and finding those children of God ready to hear this message and change. I have D&C 112:14 (i think thats right) stuck in my head... ``feed my sheep´´. This area is full of hungry sheep and i´m gonna feed `em! haha.

Here a  bunch of pictures for your enjoyment. I´m loving the packages and letters I got! Want to hear something crazy? Apparently Ben Gilmore is married... thats not that crazy, but what really took me for a huge surprise was that an Elder named Elder Millan in our zone got the wedding announcement. Small world, I guess Elder Gilmore served in his ward or something. haha

The highlights of this week are that we are reactivating some less active kids of about 13 and 15. It was great to see them at church all smiles and remembering what they left behind. Also, we are working with the non member parents of some teenager members and I sure hope they came make it to church this week.

Well, that´s about it. I´m doing well and putting my trust in my Heavenly Father.

Sincerely

Elder Leslie

ps  dont worry i dont plan on chasing any deer down. I´ve heard it´s a quick way to end the mission early.... haha triste chase. haha

Week #36

Hello

I´ll be brief this week. We baptized a 12 year old kid named Hilario and he received the Gift of The Holy Ghost on Sunday and Im very happy for him! I just pray that he can continue faithful and one day serve a mission.

Thanks for all your prayers to help us find someone new this week because we found an awesome investigator named Mario who went to church yesterday and after church taught a great lesson with a girl named Anayeli. They both have baptismal dates set!

It was great to hear from all they family and I´m glad I could talk to my mother on Mothers Day!  ( in case you´re curious mothers day in mexico is the 10th of May.) I miss and love my family so much and know the fastest way to see them again is to focus and keeping working hard.

Keep praying for us and helping the missionaries in your area!

Sincerely

Elder Leslie

Week #35

To Whom This May concern:
We are doing great here in San Pedro Tapanatepec! Saturday we baptized two really old children of God named Marcelino and Concepcion (Gabriel´s Grandma). It was a very sprititual experience but no so much powerful or overwhelming. During the baptismal service I simply felt a wonderful feeling of peace. These types of feelings that come from the Holy Ghost can be hard to notice, but reflecting back I cannot recall having a single concern in the world. (other helping Gabriel with the wording found in D&C 20:73).  I cant remember if i told you about Gabriel yet but he is a miracle. Apparently he used to be a famous drunk and drug addict here in Tapana, but in February he decided to change his life and got baptized. He now has the aaronic priesthood and performed the sacred ordainance of baptism for the first time. Just his membership and attendance every Sunday is converting and amazing investigators. We brought one lady named Gloria to church and she was astounded to see him up there blessing the sacrament. ´`Ive seen him somewhere she told us´´ quickly after it dawned on her... from the streets stumbling overhimselft and shouting profainity. If you dont believe this gospel changes lives... get overyourself and believe it. haha. This church is true and has power and authortiy from our Heavenly Father to baptize so that we can return to His presence. There are only two churches in this world: the church of Jesus Christ and the church not of Jesus Christ. If you are reading this and don´t know which, out of all the churches in the world, is the true chuch of Christ.... pray to your Father in Heaven (God) to know. I promise you he will answer.
All is well here. Im washing my clothes by hand, teaching with more love and knowledge of the scriptures, and this friday we have another baptism scheduled. Keep praying for and working with the missionaries in your area!
Sincerely
Elder Leslie

Week #34

I`ll be brief

Well, Ive completed my first week here in Tapana. Things are going pretty well, but we didnt find any new investigators last week so we start this week with high hopes and a positive attitude. Hopefully we will have two baptisms this week, both really old and dont understand much, but want to get baptized. Church attendance was pretty scarce this Sunday. There were only 30 in attendace in that little prayer house. The members are nice but dont have too much money. I am always grateful for their sacrifices to feed us.

Looks like Ill be washing all my clothes by hand for my time here in Tapana..... not my favorite thing in the world but dont really have much choice. I´m doing great and praying a lot to know the Lords will for our companionship and this area. Thanks for all your support and love!
